BIOGRAPHY
Rental United is the name of a studio shared by three artists, Damon Tong, Stephanie Sin and Timothy Zauho since 2009. It is also the name of the artists’ collective by the three. Focusing on art interventions, Rental United started its 1st appearance by showcasing a video installation for Fotanian Open Studio 2010, the largest annual artists’ open studio in Hong Kong at the time, attracting thousands of visitors yearly.
STATEMENT
Rental United’s main focus of art intervention has always been on the surrounding of the artists, such as studios’ neighbourhoods and art events whose participated. Taking mundane services of daily life as art and presenting it in the format of performance or live installations for specific art-related events. Rental United seek connections between audiences, artists and art. Far as Hong Kong’s concerned, audiences have always been Rental United’s primary interests, as they are believed to be the critical component of the art development of Hong Kong.
